History of Wroclaw: Medieval age


History of Wroclaw begun, when Slavic tribes occupied the Óder river´s islands and they created a burg. Quickly, Wroclaw became a crossroad among commercials trails of Asia, Europe and Mediterranean. Close the Oder River, the King of Vratislav and Bohemia built a Castel at X Century that he Called "Wratislaw". In the last decade of this century Kings Mieszko of Poland conquered it. In 1138 it became capital of independent duchy of Silesia. During Mongols invasion it was sacked but they couldn’t conquer the Castel.
Wroclaw, like the rest of Silesia, was colonized by German people during Middle Age. Principally, after Mongols invasion. The Piast dynasty had family ties with ruling house in Poland and with Germany Empire. That was one of the reasons for the German’s repopulation in Wroclaw.
Now, we can see the German’s influence on its monuments and architecture.
